Genesis Automation, the Cork-based provider of innovative clinically focused traceability and supply chain analytics which improves patient safety, cuts cost and eliminate waste for the healthcare sector, has appointed Mr. Paul Jackson as General Manager UK & Ireland.
Paul has 22 years’ experience in the commercial healthcare sector, holding senior management and leadership roles in blue chip and SME healthcare organisations since 2001. He has worked throughout EAME in the medical device and technology sectors and specialises in the critical care, OR, anaesthesia, IT and finance areas.
Prior to Genesis, Paul lead Philips Respironics to the UK market leader position for sleep devices in 2007 and delivered maiden profitability for AIM listed LiDCO LTD in 2014. His most recent experience also covers a range of sectors including the retail, hospitality and the secure psychiatric market. He most recently developed and commercialised clinical sales strategies in the voice communications workflow sector for a global healthcare communications company.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul said “the Genesis team, its products and competitive advantage are class-leading and capable of delivering very significant financial, clinical and technical benefits demanded by the NHS. I recognise the huge growth potential and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
In the UK, Genesis Automation‘s technology is helping the NHS take control of its supply chain to improve patient safety, compliance, cost audits and traceability. It is working with 24 NHS sites, which have seen substantial improvements in patient safety, cost savings and operational efficiencies. Demand for its products is also growing in the U.S.
Commenting on the appointment of Paul, Noel O’Hanlon, founder & group chief executive officer of Genesis Automation, said “The appointment of Paul is another significant growth milestone for Genesis. Paul brings a vast array of experience and skills which sets the business up for our next phase of growth.”
Genesis recently attracted up to €21m in private equity funding to fund the growth and expansion of the business. This brings the total capital raised by Genesis to approximately €30m and will allow Genesis to further build on its rapid success and expand its business in the UK and US.
Founded by Noel O’Hanlon in 2010, Genesis is now market leader in the UK for point-of-care traceability and inventory management solutions. Its software helps acute trusts eliminate waste by preventing over-ordering and out-of-date stock, compare the costs of procedures between doctors and hospitals, recall patients that may have received faulty implants, and ensure critical and correct stock is always available in operating theatres.
Genesis Automation designed its software in collaboration with the NHS. Noel says: “Without a supply chain overview, many hospitals do not know which supplies are about to expire, and which implants have been inserted into which patients. By taking a sophisticated, automated, approach, hospitals can not only save huge sums on procurement, but also track and trace every item to every patient. In the event of a product recall emergency, this can save lives.”
